Where to get groovy with us off the bike during ADE

Words byHayley Hayley

Amsterdam’s coolest festival, ADE, hits the city. Every year in October, the Amsterdam Dance Event brings us five whole days of the best of electronic dance music. Since its founding in 1995 as a three-day conference attended by 300 delegates and 30 DJs, ADE has been dedicated to bringing people together through music and dance. Though it has expanded far beyond its three original locations – Paradiso, Melkweg and Club Escape – it is still the ideal place to discover the coolest trends in music and new talents.

As you know, music is the heart and soul of Rocycle. Without it, how could we ride to the beat? That’s why we love ADE.

Want to know where to unite mind, body and music with your favourite instructors? Just like last year, we’ve got their favourite ADE parties below so you can shake your booty with them.

Let’s get sweaty.

Rowen: At 12:00 P.M. on a random Wednesday in September, I cancelled all my plans to sit tight for the launch of the ADE tickets – my favourite week in Amsterdam! Usually I always go to Awakenings; however, this year I decided to go for Audio Obscura x Nina Kravitz in the prison, Bijlmer Bajes (which sold out in 3 minutes). There’s no such thing as house or techno house. Pure techno only, my very favourite. And I’m so curious about the venue. The old prison in the Bijlmer…this will get dark. I love it.

Neeltje: I actually always follow my friends for where to go, as some of them always really know the best places. And I actually always enjoy myself anywhere. But Pacific Parc often has nice ADE parties. Nice groovy music, often live bands and beautiful people who like to dance!

Luuk: I will go to Audio Obscura in the Bijlmer Bajes. First of all for the venue: it’s a former prison. How cool is that? And second: a lot of friends of mine are going. And what is a party without good friends?

Tiela: I’ve been told to go see my best friend’s favourite DJ Green Velvet on Friday, October 19th. Saturday I have a ticket for Elrow.

Herns: If you’ve been to my ride before, you will notice how my playlist choices have a lot of African influence in them. Not to mention my “This is Africa” theme ride. The Party Gods blessed us with probably the most essential night when it comes to African music from yesterday, today and tomorrow. 15 Years of Djoon at Paradiso Noord-Tolhuistuinen on October 20th. The best taste of highlife, disco, house, afro house and more.

Jeff: I’m going to Into the Woods. I haven’t been yet, but I’m joining Babette and Donna, two Rocycle instructors. It’s in nature, which is one of the coolest things about the festival, aside from the music, of course!

Isabella: Once again, bouncing and tapping it back in the dark this year during a 62-hour party called Het Weekend at De School. One day will be enough for me though J. Dark music and so much more, combined with art and performances.
