At Rocycle we’re all about Mind Body Music, but, just as important is the fact that we’re a family. So, to make sure each class is not just a party but a reunion, we’d like to introduce some of our Ro’Regulars. Hop into the studio at 7am most weekday mornings, and you will undoubtedly spot one of our most dedicated riders, self-proclaimed “girly geek” Iris. This yoga bunny sat down with us to dish on plant-based protein, finding her Zen on the Amstel and what Rocycle means to her.
Iris! Hello! So nice to finally chat with you. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi, I’m Iris! My Instagram might show you I’m a plant-powered, yoga enthusiast, and my LinkedIn will tell you I’m a pragmatic idealist who’s passionate about hiring the best talent for our team (talented people, InMail here). If you ask my mom, though, she’d probably tell you that I’m a girly geek who ran away too far from her (and from China, where I grew up).
Are you a native Amsterdammer? If not, what brought you here?
Obvs not J. The rain – just love it! Don’t believe that? I moved here for work around a year and a half ago.
Drawn by the rain? We guess there’s a first time for everything! And what about Rocycle? Were you drawn by the sweat?
My friends brought me to Rocycle! I was promised a great workout on the bike, and I was not disappointed. During my first ride, I was already dying during the warmup track, wondering how I could ever get through the whole class. The challenging part is the most fun, and I have been coming back for more ever since.
That’s what we like to hear. So we’re guessing your friends are a big part of your Ro’story?
My friends and I run into each other coincidentally WAY too often at Rocycle. We actually make plans more often in person at Rocycle than over text.
We noticed that you’re pretttty fit. You must also eat quite healthfully! How do you fuel yourself on a ride day?
Religiously. I’ll make sure I take plant-based proten after a ride (yes, veggie here). The Power Breaky with protein is my all-time fave.
Mmm we love the Power Breaky. Speaking of breakfast, are you an early bird or a night owl?
Early bird 100%. My work schedule only allows for 7am classes on weekdays, so that’s when you’ll see me rushing into Rocycle (I’m usually one of the last to arrive – sorry!).
When we’re not tapping it back, we like to take it easy. Where do you like to unwind?
Home! I just bought a place by Amstel, and it’s really Zen to look outside 24/7.
Well aren’t you lucky! So, we made it to the last question: what does Rocycle mean to you?
A strong dose of positivity, physically and mentally.
